The implementation of the 2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia
Action Plan (2020 TAP) will be the primary responsibility
of the 2020 Joint Management Group (JMG). The members will
include representatives from Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board,
Environment Waikato, Taupo District Council, Department of
Conservation and Department of Internal Affairs. All these agencies
have accepted responsibilities for the uptake of the plan.
2020 Joint Management Group meetings will be held quarterly
and the administration of this group will be handled through
the 2020 TAP coordinator. Each agency will allocate funding
for implementation of the Plan through their forward planning
and budgetary processes.
It is critical to note that each year the agencies will identify
which actions they plan to undertake and identify timeframes
and resources. They will also report to the 2020 Joint Management
Group on the actions they have completed in the past year.
This information will be made public.
2020 TAP identifies an agency or ‘action manager’
for each new action. This does not exclude other agencies
or community groups from being involved with achieving the
actions – rather it identifies which agency will take
a lead in coordinating the actions. Some actions identify
more than one ‘action manager’, which either indicates
that there needs to be a coordinated approach between agencies,
or that this action needs to be equally addressed by other
agencies.
There is a commitment from the 2020 Joint Management Group
and the key agencies to involve the community and Ngati
Tuwharetoa in the implementation of the 2020 TAP. For this
reason, the Terms of Reference for the JMG require it to
have representation from the Tūwharetoa Economic Authorities,
Lakes and Waterways Action Group and Lake Taupo Development
Company. |
