Who Is Involved and the Role of the Agencies

The actions identified in 2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia Action Plan (2020 TAP) are focused on the key statutory agencies partners, which include Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board, Environment Waikato, Taupo District Council, Department of Conservation and Department of Internal Affairs. Between them, these agencies partners have the mandate to address the actions identified in the Taupo-nui-a-Tia Action Plan, on behalf of the community and Ngati Tuwharetoa.

How the Agencies Work Together
2020 TAP identifies an agency as the ‘action manager’ for each new action. This does not exclude other agencies or community groups from being involved with achieving the actions – rather it identifies which agency will take a lead in coordinating and achieving the actions. Some actions require more than one ‘action manager’, which either indicates that there needs to be a coordinated approach between agencies, or that this action needs to be equally addressed by other agencies.
