Ongoing monitoring and research is needed to provide the basic data and knowledge for informed decisions. The 2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia TAP identifies current gaps in our knowledge and understanding as well as what information is needed to achieve the goals and aspirations of the Ngati Tuwharetoa hapu and the wider community.
The above bibliography and research & monitoring inventories provided a useful starting point for the development of suitable indicators, environmental standards and targets that will help to track progress with the implementation of the 2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia Action Plan.
These environmental indicators are described in the
2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia Action Plan
