Resources

Good information is important for making decisions to protect Lake Taupo and its surrounding area so that the community can continue to enjoy what they value most about living and working here.

This part of the website provides access to information about the Lake and the catchment, such as water quality, recreation/fishing, land use, economic development, reserves, wilderness areas, and Tuwharetoa issues.

It consists of five parts. Each part includes a 'search' option for easy access to the information you want:

Bibliography A list of published information (books, reports etc.) about Taupo
Research Details about current research projects and investigations in Taupo
Monitoring Details about regular, ongoing monitoring activities undertaken in Taupo
Consents List of major resource consents that include monitoring requirements.
Taupo Maps

Ongoing monitoring and research is needed to provide the basic data and knowledge for informed decisions. The 2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia TAP identifies current gaps in our knowledge and understanding as well as what information is needed to achieve the goals and aspirations of the Ngati Tuwharetoa hapu and the wider community.

The above bibliography and research & monitoring inventories provided a useful starting point for the development of suitable indicators, environmental standards and targets that will help to track progress with the implementation of the 2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia Action Plan.

These environmental indicators are described in the 2020 Taupo-nui-a-Tia Action Plan

If you are publishing any information or undertaking any monitoring or research in Lake Taupo or its surrounding area, we would like to hear from you. Please Contact Us.
