| A 3 Lake Taupo Microbial Beach Bathing Survey |
| Objective: |
To provide information on summer microbial water quality at popular bathing sites around Lake Taupo. |
| Rationale: |
Monitoring of bacterial abundance occurs at 18 popular bathing locations approximately 10 –12 times over the summer. Average median seasonal values for the summer period are compared with Department of Health guidelines for safe swimming. Commenced summer 1992/93. Last survey undertaken in summer 2001/02. Next sampling planned in 2003/04. |
