| A 7 Whangamata Stream Retirement Monitoring |
| Objective: |
To characterise changes in streamside vegetation and water quality in the Whangamata Stream following land retirement from pastoral farming. |
| Rationale: |
This project is a continuation of the Whangamata Stream retirement monitoring which now has a 24-year history of data collection since riparian strips were established in the 1970’s. This stream is a component of the Taupo Catchment Control Scheme. Seasonal water quality and flow monitoring occurs at two fixed sites in the stream. Vegetation surveys are conducted along the banks of the retired stream and within the stream channel. Commenced 1974. The scope and future extetn of this monitoring programme is currently under review. |
