| (B) 8 Lower Tongariro River Natural Hazard Management Plan |
| Objective: |
To provide a strategic plan to address future management of the lower Tongariro River. The purpose of the plan is to achieve the integrated management of natural hazards on the lower Tongariro. |
| Rationale: |
Initial mitigation plan completed April 1999. Extensive consultation in progress, options have been discussed and agreed upon. Special order process has been undertaken based on stopbank construction and channel clearance works. Works planned for this year
Programme of hazard/mitigation and river management adopted under 'Project Watershed'. Notified resource consent process to commence September 2003 with work commencing 2003/04.
